Rookie group Kis-My-Ft2 recently won the "New Artist of the Year" in the domestic category at the The 26th Japan Gold Disc Award ceremony on the 27th in Tokyo. The award is typically given to the new artist of the year with the most revenue generated by their debut. Kis-My-Ft2 snagged the award with their two singles, including their August debut, "Everybody Go," which sold nearly 450,000 copies.
Kis-My-Ft2 did a performance and acceptance speech by VTR at the ceremony, with leader Kitayama Hiromitsu (26), saying "Receiving an award like this is truly an honor."
The group's face, Tamamori Yuta, was also very thankful for the award. "We've still got a long way to go, so we will be focusing all of our energy and time into doing our best," he said with a serious face.
Last, Fujigaya Taisuke expressed his gratitude, saying, "This award is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and it's thanks to everyone who supported us. I think this will bond us closer with our fans, and I'd like to continue for a long time in this life with everyone. I ask for your support in the future."
