I wonder what the reaction would be if the Jewish made clothes inspired by the Hiroshima bombing.

THIS! Through the entire post I wondered what type of reaction America would get if some designer made a clothing line inspired by the nuclear bombings of Japan. I can only imagine that Japanese-Americans and Japanese alike would be up in arms at how "Horrible and insensitive" it was.

Well this comes from a population who made an "history" tv show in which a MoMusu member called Hitler "Hitoraa ojiichan". =__________________=
I definitely agree with the article writer when he says that designers should be responsible and research what they produce.

Also, this is nothing new. Siouxsie And The Banshees, the Sex Pistols etc., used Nazi imagery for shock value in the 70s.

They were designed/made by Hugo Boss!

Um, well I have swastika earrings and stuff and I wear them out a lot.

It's ok to do it here, since not a lot of people would "get it", but I'd probably tone it down when I'm in other countries, especially Western ones. Just out of respect.

But I won't stop buying such merchandise. Simply because I like wearing it, and no, it's not because I want to offend anyone - especially on purpose.

This my shirt

and tbh it's one of my favourites in my entire closet, I wear it out a lot. I think it's adorable actually. I didn't buy it for the sole purpose of hoping to offend Jewish people, for example.

Cute. :D

Where I live, people would get it, but would just laugh. (I srlsy laughed when I saw this post at first, I don't mean to offend though.) I live in Puerto Rico and racism is very minimal among people. They just joke around with each other and don't take racism jokes seriously.

if I were a person who didn't know a thing about Hitler and WW2, I would find that plushie really amusing. I'm not even european but I've been reading and researching a lot about WW2.

That is Japan after all, for good or bad... new generations are growing up like this.

blacksoul12012 13th-Nov-2009 04:34 pm (UTC)
It is not okay!
It was a dark time for Germany and the whole world and everyone should try to work for a different future.

The sad thing is that probably quite some people here in Germany wouldn't care.
