Fans banned from taking uchiwa to Tackey concerts?

Fans have been left shocked by a move to ban uchiwas from Hideaki Takizawa’s summer concerts, reports Cyzowoman.

A must-have item at Johnny’s concerts is an uchiwa.  Fans can use uchiwa bought from a merchandise shop to show Johnny’s talents who they are a fan of, while homemade uchiwa give fans the chance to put in private messages such as “blow me a kiss” or “give me the peace sign”.

It has been reported fans going to Tackey’s SUMMER LOVE CONCERT 2012 show in Tokyo on July 26 got an email a week before, asking them to support Tackey with “only pompoms and penlights, please”.  Some fans had called the ticket office to ask whether it meant uchiwa were banned, and were told an “uchiwa ban” had not been stated.  But one fan painted a different picture.

“When I got to the concert venue, they were checking bags, and they asked anyone with an uchiwa to store it away.  Some fans managed to get through the checkpoint with their uchiwa, but when they took them out inside the hall, a staff member told them off.  There were arguments going on here and there, it was awkward at one point,” said one fan at the concert.

There are some Johnny’s groups who ask fans to keep uchiwas at a minimum, like TOKIO, because the group is considered to be more a band than a pop star group.  Another Johnny’s talent who asks fans to refrain from bringing uchiwa and penlights is Tsuyoshi Domoto, whose concerts are less like a typical pop star’s concerts.  But why would Tackey concerts, which fit into neither category, suddenly ban uchiwas?

“Apparently a lot of Johnny’s Jr. fans go to Tackey’s solo concerts or stage shows because he has talents like Snow Man dancing behind him.  Some junior fans are really dedicated so sometimes it looks like the number of uchiwas for junior talents outnumbers those for Tackey…  Maybe they’re banning uchiwa to avoid this kind of sad situation.

“There’s also talk that maybe the ban is a strategic move to get ready for Tackey’s 10th anniversary concert tour with Tsubasa Imai, which starts in September.  The duo are going to perform in Tokyo Dome, but I don’t think the two have enough fans to fill up that huge venue.  Other fan club fans have apparently been sent information on this concert because it’ll have guests like KAT-TUN and Hey! Say! JUMP.  Unless they do something now, there’s risk the dome will be full of uchiwas for other talents,” one Johnny’s reporter said.

It has been reported a number of fans had published angry comments online, saying the reason was childish, and that fans had nothing if they were not allowed uchiwas.

However, others have become more creative.  There have been ideas going back and forth about printing messages on pompoms, on bandanas, and even on T-shirts.

To be honest, I don't think Takki is the one making these measures. It's probably a corp thing. Which I actually understand and, sorta, approve. Yeah I'm biased so what.

I AM BIASED AS WELL, but I think this move makes sense.

When I saw the part where it said "Some junior fans are really dedicated so sometimes it looks like the number of uchiwas for junior talents outnumbers those for Tackey… Maybe they’re banning uchiwa to avoid this kind of sad situation."

I had to re-read it cause I was like "wait what? the JRs's uchiwa our number the main act?! Seriously?!" It's sad getting old when you're a pop idol cause the fanbase moves on.

I like Tackey more of an actor than singer though. I only liked a few of their songs.

And to be honest when I saw the headline I thought it was because fans were whacking each other with them lol
pandapaw 30th-Jul-2012 06:31 pm (UTC)
perhaps thats why xD
fans use them as a attack on other fans
thats what mini uchiwas are for, there better small and people can see behond them xD
pandapaw 30th-Jul-2012 06:29 pm (UTC)
there choise not the fans but if they buy one on the day not knowing!
then its out of order!
perhaps its so other fans can see
so they dont block peoples faces with the fans
shinsnowprince 30th-Jul-2012 06:44 pm (UTC)
But fans are really good at keeping the uchiwa low enough not to block the view of others. In fact it is highly frowned upon by fans to bring the uchiwa up high enough that you are blocking someone's view.

what? mmm i dont know~ i mean that source is like :/
subarunee 30th-Jul-2012 07:07 pm (UTC)
I don't think that the reason...

I love Jr and ofcourse Tono-sama
chibi_hime 30th-Jul-2012 08:56 pm (UTC)
For those who have never sat next to a crazed junior fan will never fully understand why. These women bring 10+ uchiwas and USE THEM ALL AT ONCE! Can you imagine sitting behind or next to someone like that? Plus some are so rude to the main acts. So I'm not surprised that security stops them when they check the bags before entering the venue.

I hope they don't ban uchiwas completely because I know Tackey and Tsubasa make a real effort to read as many uchiwas as they can. It's a cute way to send a message to them.

i didn't know uchiwas are not allowed in TOKIO and Tsuyoshi's concerts. What about Koichi's?
But LOL, i think I want to imagine uchiwas in TOKIO's concerts.
yoru_no_hikaru 1st-Aug-2012 04:28 pm (UTC)
Well, it's not like they're not allowed. It's more like they aren't exactly happy when people bring this stuff. Although I'm thinking that when Tsuyoshi holds events at temples, it seems a bit... off to bring such stuff.

As for Koichi, from what I've seen people bring whatever they can hold. XD

When I read the article title I imagined a whole bunch of rabid fangirls fighting each other to the death using their uchiwas...
flutterbychild9 30th-Jul-2012 10:23 pm (UTC)
If that's really the reason, yet another point on the list of "Why I Think T&T Need a New Manager". :/
minam_shi 30th-Jul-2012 11:10 pm (UTC)
Someone already told me last year that it seems Tono doesn't like when people are showing that they are not coming to see him during his concert. Because there is some fans who are here only for Snow Man (I totally understand them) but they act badly when there's only Tackey on stage : they sit and talk randomly with they friends. When I watched TackeyTsuba Matsuri and our futur's DVD I found more MSM uchiwas than T&T. We all know that Tackey is not popular enough to make a solo con without Snow Men, that's why he announced before the beginning of the first show that the boys would come with him.
So when I learn that only the pink pompoms where alowed I immediatly thought it was Tackey's idea. I think he has the right to rules all what he wants during his concert and some Jrs fan should pay more attention to him when he is on stage, especially because thanks to him they can see a lot of things from Snow Men and he interacts a lot with them...
I hope other groups' fans will support T&T during their anniversary, I love them so much >__<
minam_shi 30th-Jul-2012 11:13 pm (UTC)
I've just read all the other comment and I'm surprised many people think that this is not Tackey's own idea or that this is not kind for the Jrs :o
stole_away 31st-Jul-2012 03:18 am (UTC)
this is reasonable at least th fans still hv pompoms and lightsticks and everything, well fans can always get creative and come out with something else to show their support for tacket instead, no?
squallina 31st-Jul-2012 07:45 am (UTC)

squallina 31st-Jul-2012 07:44 am (UTC)

Are they serious?

Though I have seen Junior supporters smuggle in huge banners that they wave about from arena seating. (At least I think that's what those banners were - they were waving them between three fans facing the main stage while the main act was performing elsewhere.)

Regardless, I think it's kind of weird - weird that fans can't bring uchiwa, weird that fans can't support Juniors (when and how else can they do it?) and weird that it bothers the people around Tackey a lot.
