Shigeaki Kato’s “Pink to Gray” Starts its Manga Run



On Aug 24th, NEWS‘ Shigeaki Kato‘s debut novel “Pink to Gray” have started its manga run for Kadokawa Shoten‘s “ASUKA” monthly issue. Mio Fujisaki Komikiraizu is responsible for the story’s illustrations.

“Pink to Gray” tells the story of two best friends who entered the entertainment industry . However, one became a star while the other gets left behind to supporting roles. The novel talks about the successes and frustrations in the entertainment industry.

The manga version will start with the story’s hero recalling childhood memories of his best friend who became different from him.

To celebrate the first run of “Pink to Gray” in ASUKA, a short interview of Kato is included. Kato talks about his memories while writing the novel and his impressions with Komikiraizu’s work.

"Komikaraizu" isn't part of the mangaka's name. It's wasei-eigo meaning "to adapt into a manga/comic" (it's from "comic" + "-lize"...like "novelize"). So Fujisaki Mio is adapting the novel into a manga, or "comicalizing" it.
