The "Shimizu Shota Effect" causes resurgence of popularity for HY

Shimizu Shota's "366 Nichi ft. Nakasone Izumi (HY)" has topped Recochoku's charts, and due to the song's growing popularity, it has simultaneously caused four HY ballads to appear on the charts.

The original version of "366 Nichi," despite being released more than four years ago in April 2008, reentered the chart at #35, while "NAO" (April 2006, #69) and "Anata" (April 2003, #100) have both ranked in as well. The songs are seeing great popularity on Recochoku's Chaku-Uta chart, showing good upward movement.

HY continues to be one of the most successful indie acts in Japan, never having signed a major label contract. They have not released any singles, and continue to only put out albums and perform live. They will be providing the theme song to NHK's upcoming October drama, "Jun to Ai," but the song will not receive a single cut, and the band will continue with just albums and concerts without changing their style.
