Yamada & Kindaichi SP is going international! + Preview

Yamada Ryosuke on his Thoughts by being the 4th Generation Kindaichi

Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke have just finished shooting for the upcoming NTV’s Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo~Hong Kong Kowloon Zaiho Satsujin Jiken~ that is slated to be shown on New Year next year. This 60-years special program of NTV will be shown in various parts of Asia all at the same time, a first in history.

Yamada, who filmed the series in Hong Kong, decided to follow the style of the 1st generation Kindaichi, KinKi Kids‘ Domoto Tsuyoshi. “I kept my hair as close to the 1st generation and even wore the same style of uniform,” Yamada commented. It has been seven years since the last Kindaichi special was shown with KAT-TUN‘s Kamenashi Kazuya as the 3rd generation and Arashi‘s Matsumoto Jun as the 2nd generation.

The popular series is headlined by a stellar cast that includes Asian stars like former Farenheit member Wu Chun, Big Bang’s Seungri (V.I), and actress Vivian Hsu.

Set in Hong Kong, 4th generation’s Kindaichi will challenge difficult stunts and brilliant action scenes that could likened to that of Jackie Chan. Yamada talked about some of his action scenes including skate-boarding, “I did try skate-boarding since I have learned it in Japan. I was actually excited about the cliffs and such, but it was different once you are in the situation. We used stuntmen for other stunts, but I really worked hard to do my own stunts as possible.”

Yamada also said that he did not feel the language-barrier at all, “I think that it’s easy to convey your thoughts as long as you worked hard,” he commented. “I think that everyone was worried because of language differences; however, I enjoyed the differences and you can see that there’s a harmonious atmosphere at the set,” he addded.

Big Bang’s Seungri also raved about Yamada’s enthusiasm, “I think he is great for being the drama’s lead and he is still young.”

First published in 1992, “Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo” became a popular serial manga under Kodansha. Seimaru Amagi (author of Kindaichi’s light novels) did the screenplay for the first time where he staged the serial murders in a fashion show in Hong Kong.
