Studio Ghibli will be simultaneously releasing 2 new movies, "Kaze Tachinu" and "Kaguya hime no Monogatari", during the summer of 2013.
"Kaze Tachinu", which translates to "The Wind Has Risen", will be directed by Hayao Miyazaki, the author of the manga series the movie will be based off of. The movie will focus on the life of Jiro Horikoshi, the chief engineer of Japan's Zero fighter planes used during World War II.
"Kaguya hime no Monogatari", or "The Story of Princess Kaguya", will be directed by Isao Takahata, marking his return to cinema after a 14 year hiatus. The movie will be based on he Japanese folk tale "Taketori Monogatari".
The upcoming releases will be Studio Ghibli's first time releasing two movies at the same time since 1988 when Miyazaki and Takahata released their double-feature "My Neighbor Totoro" and "Grave of the Fireflies".
