I’m Minegishi Minami from Umeda team B of AKB48.
I’m very sorry to have caused enormous worry to members, fans, staffs, my families and a lot of other people with the article in the weekly magaizne that is published today.
(Deep Bow)
As the 1st generation member of AKB48, the group that has formed in 2005, it’s my responsibility to always behave as a good role model to juniors. I deeply regret what I did this time. It was a thoughtless deed and I was completely lacking self-awareness as a senior member.
My brain blanked out and I’m still unable to figure out what to do, what I can do. But after I saw the magazine a little ago, I couldn’t help but doing something. And I decided to shave my head without consulting any member or staff at my agency.
Although I don’t think I would be forgiven by doing this, the first thing that I went through my head was that “I don’t want to leave AKB48.”
This is a place where my dear members, who I spent my blossom of youth together, are. And it’s unimaginable to even think about leaving the group where I’m with so many wonderful and sweet fans.
I understand it’s wishful thinking, but if it’s possible, I would like to still be AKB48′s Minegishi Minami.
This is all my fault.
I’m truly sorry.
I will leave my hereafter to the hands of Akimoto-sensei and management.
Though I haven’t been able to tidy my mind up, but I just wanted to tell my current feeling to you.
Thank you so much for listening to me.

Seriously, it hurt so much to see Miichan in this condition. I think this is the first time she cut her hair. Well, congrats to Shunkan Bunshun for destroying her and Masuda Yuka's career in just a few months. And to think that Miichan is 1st generation member! T-T But at least she didn't graduate.... Miichan's fans, show your love to her in the next election!

Edit: Okay, I think this is too sweet to be ignored. 1st generation member (minus Kojima Haruna). Even Acchan's there! Apparently, Takamina also cut her hair (It is far more shorter than when she get haircut because her hair burned). Not sure about Acchan though, because I think she wear extension before, so I don't know her original hair length From Itano Tomomi's twitter

Apparently she cut it of her own accord and management didn't know. But I'm calling BS, like I feel they did pressure to go the extra mile. And cutting your hair is probably a big deal in Japan where being feminine thing is important in her life and her job. I only 2 celebs that are bald over there (a harajuku fashionista and a ora-ora kei model for soul sister). And it can have some negative impact on her mentally, getting work. But apparently now some of the wota want to beat alan up though, just as wtf (should blame management and yourself tbh).

People can 'omg great honor!!2111!' one minute and then turn around and mock her and cross her off her their faves list just because she doesn't have hair. It's frustrating and they really need to do away with the love ban rule. I was really meh with it, especially with the fact girls have had bfs and probably still do and none of the fans know or they just get a slap on the wrist. But Miichan gets humiliated (was this video necessary, like for reals?) I know AKS isn't the first or last with this rule, but I'm really not about this crap anymore.

I hope when she goes home, Alan is waiting to give her some lovin' or smth.

To everything you said.

She is not as popular as other girls who got caught, but I really didn't think they would go to that lenght.

"But I'm calling BS, like I feel they did pressure to go the extra mile."

no, they didn't. why didn't the same happen with sasshi who had more incriminating evidence than her? and all those other girls, like yonechan & nacchan.

it's something she chose to do personally. you also have to take into account that she's a 1st gen member. she probably feels completely ridiculous/apologetic towards all her juniors since she should be the leading example. i could see myself doing something similar if i did something completely disgracing/disappointing. (obviously dating isn't disgracing but breaking the rule & not leading by example is)

i do agree that they need to do away with the love ban rule because this is only going to keep happening. if AKB48 does it the entire Japanese idol industry will follow their lead.

Yep, pretty much everything you said.

Basically this, especially the "1st gen member" part. I don't think she was forced into shaving her head, but management probably was OK with it because they knew people would feel sorry for her. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets a ton of votes in the senbatsu election this year (KKS are still eligible). And Miichan isn't quite as popular as some other members but still well-known, so already a ton of people are shocked about this (the top trending topics when the apology video was released were all about Miichan).

Yeah, probably a PR stunt. If she`s not as popular, this may make her stand out and help her future career...or at least help the image of her group.

Sucks she has to go that far, but I guess some people would argue it`s the price of fame and many girls would gladly take her spot.

I'm just wondering, is the no dating rule in their contract?

And I hope that it works out with her and Alan as well.
liime_arix 1st-Feb-2013 11:11 am (UTC)
I do think it's in their contract but I don't know in what form (it could be conditional like, oh, tell management first or whether they're in a current relationship or not). But I do think it's just some bs to put in there altogether.

Ok. Thanks for clarifying. Yea, It's a dumb rule to have no matter what. Gives too much power over someones private life and too much power to delusional crazy as fuck "betrayed-feeling" fans. That video was just heartbreaking to watch and this entire thing just really pisses me off so I'm gonna take a break from the internet for a while.
