AKB48 Kashiwagi Yuki says “Love-Ban-Law is necessary as long as we’re idols”

The source noted that this interview was conducted before Shukan Bunshun reported the Miichan "scandal", but ugh her reasons are killing me. I only posted this because when I mentioned this article in another post some of you were wishing it wasn't true. Welp here it is and I honestly think prayer is needed right now.

Management panders to wotas' whims because these wotas are the ones that keeps the AKB machine going. They are the ones who buy tens, hundreds, even thousands of CDs and DVDs each for the handshake tickets and ballots. I do not think AKB would continue being million sellers if they stop creating dreams and fantasies for their fanbase. This doesn't mean that what's happening is right but this is reality. Cold hard cash is king.

I see, this is why I never notice her in AKB regardless how popular she might be among the others

ugh. sorry but she sounds fake to me. i dare her to say that again after she's found the love of her life

I know of a lot of jobs that have certain unwritten requirements such as "don't badmouth us on facebook because we will come after you" but that in itself is a whole another can of worms. While someone is a an idol though they can try to be polite and friendly to the fans (as a suggestion not as a rule) it shouldn't be mandatory that they cannot date. That just seems to be a overreach of power and quite honestly it just sounds creepy. And even if they do date it shouldn't reach the evil of near 'witch-hunting' that always seems to happen.

Oh okay so dedicating your life to a job you actually enjoy and love is wrong?
She can only understand her way of thinking is wrong until she gets into a relationship?
Is this how you think?
Happiness comes with something you enjoy.

People here really.. pathetic.

That's not the point. Takamina, Mayuyu and others have dedicated their life to their job. Mayuyu have also said she's not interested in boys and prefer her work.

The problem is that Yuki is saying the ban is necessary, it's not and if she wants to live that way that's fine, but her views shouldn't be imposed on anyone but herself.

Also this "I gave up love to please my fans" sentiment is stupid. Her fans should love her regardless if she's single or not. It's selfish and no idol should feel like they have to give up anything for their fans.

Tbh if I was an idol I would probably try my best to stay single as well, but not because I wanted to please my fans, but because I wanted to go as far as I could go in my career before settling down.

I know a lot of people who put off relationships for their career but it's because they want to, not because someone else wants them to.

I don't find her reasoning disturbing at all, weirdly.
She is right about the fact that everyone joining has a dream to accomplish and it's a profession that has a give and take factor or equivalent exchange.

But how long can it go on? Love and relationships aren't necessarily something they can just make nothing out of.

Oh come on yukirin.. I don't believe anyone of them really believe this crap. Fan servicing much?

Well well, she'll definitely get more wota support after this. I won't be surprised if she moves up in general election ranking because of this statement.

Although, I have to wonder, if she does indeed fall in love deeply while still in AKB and while still popular, and though unrequited love is fine in the group, but the guy just so happens reciprocate her feelings, what would she do? Choose to graduate from the group on her own, I guess.

I think all fans should just remember this so that all artist can have their own love life too...

" Artist are all human. They have mind and heart. They are not object that can be owned. "
