AKB48's Shinoda Mariko announces her graduation from the group next month

During the event for the vote count results for AKB48 32nd Single Senbatsu General Election, AKB48 team A captain Shinoda Mariko, who ranked in 5th place in the election, announced that she would be graduating from the group. She made the surprise announcement during her speech.

According to Shinoda, her graduation will be next month after the group's live concert at the Fukuoka Yafuoku! Dome as she wanted to graduate in her hometown of Fukuoka.

This is fucking depressing, Mariko is my oshimen and it's going to be really hard for me to care as much for this group as I used to. And lol at Mayuyu looking like she wanted to murder someone.

Pray circle for goto though he predicted this himself. And with Tomochin and Mariko gone, the group just lost majority of their female fanbase. I myself just don't care anymore. Like I really can't. At least Mariko has capital what with an exclusive modelling contract + two brands to fall back on.

I know she will still have work after this so I'm not worried for her future. She's smart and a good business women. She meant a lot to me and AKB won't be the same without her. I'm going into weird sobby territory so I'm just going to stop there.

I was so shocked it was an effort not to shout and accidentally wake up the whole apartment. She said she had an announcement and my heart just sort of sank. She always said she'd only leave when Aki-P came out and told her to.

But in the end it's her decision; if this is what she wants, we have to support her.

Noo :( Another fave gone.. I hope she will begin a solo career!

predictable.. but still, it's so sad :c

She's leaving?!?! Damn

Her announcement was really sad, but it makes sense. She's 27, she has an amazing career with her modelling, endorsements and clothing brand. Absolutely no problem without AKB behind her.

NOO!

She has a decent/good solo career in front of her. Good luck Mariko ^^

I'm so devo right now. I was literally screaming nononononono at my screen.
It wouldn't be as painful if she wasn't leaving next month. I need more time to processs thissss
myharu 8th-Jun-2013 03:07 pm (UTC)
yes if this was like a drawn out thing like it was for acchan I think I would be more okay with it

If Mariko-sama's done with AKB, so am I.

I've almost ran out of reasons to like them. Their music is only getting worse, they've stopped doing stages and the majority of the girls I liked have already graduated, have announced graduation or will most definitely graduate by next year.

After nearly 4 years of supporting them, this situation makes me sad.

When most of the original Kami 7 that lifted AKB48 to mainstream success graduated, I'll be out of AKB48 fandom. I don't know how Aki-P hopes to attract new fans giving so much biased and unfair push to certain members, but all I know is Aki-P is losing many old fans.

On the other hand, I'm feeling very sad for Takamina. As the leader of AKB48, as a 1st gen AKB48 member, its heart-breaking to see all of your old comrades leaving you one by one. From what I foresee, I don't think she will abandon ship, but her future in AKB48 will not be any brighter. She certainly deserves much more

I don't follow AKB that much, but it was kind of sad that the older gen (that I knew a little better) was getting less and less attention for the singles (I know that they have to promote new blood etc etc). So TBH I'm not that unhappy, since I feel like she has more and better things going for her other than AKB.

And on the plus side, I'm really happy that she managed to keep her rank despite everything!

She actually managed to surprise me. Such a perfect troll. After so many graduations happening ages after being announced, I can't help but feel like one month's so little time. Mariko's too awesome, I need more time gdi :(

great loss for the group too, soon Kojiharu will follow and then once Yuko's gone so am I. Gone over to a sister group probably, but gone nonetheless.

WAIT WHAT I just realized if her graduation is in fukuoka dome, the 21st of july, then what about you know the single this election was for that's only coming out in august...

I pretty sure they will record the single and PV before the end of July, like Acchan with some of the Team Surprise singles
