J-POP Summit Festival announced today their special musical guests for 2013. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu will be headlining the event's free concert.
The J-POP Summit Festival is an annual celebration of Japanese pop culture, music, fashion and film held in San Francisco. This year's theme is "Make Kawaii Universal!!". Kyary's bold fashion sense aligns perfectly with the event's theme.
"The celebration of the J-POP Summit spreads beyond Japantown this year and we are very excited to bring a special edition of the festival to Union Square, led by one of Japan’s biggest pop stars, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu," said Seiji Horibuchi, the President/CEO of NEW PEOPLE, Inc. and Chairman of the J-Pop Summit Festival Committee. "By having this opportunity to present the essence of Kawaii Culture to a mainstream and demographically diverse area of the city, we hope to deliver the spirit and creativity of this unique pop culture phenomenon to even more people."
In addition to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, the concert will also feature performances by harajuku singer/model Una, last year's musical guest Kylee, and renowned beat boxer Daichi.
The Union Square live concert will be held on July 28th from 2 - 4pm. Admission will be free.
