Arashi & Ayase Haruka to Host NHK's 64th Kouhaku Uta Gassen

The host has been determined for NHK's 64th Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Ayase Haruka (28) for the red team and Arashi's consecutive fourth time for the white team. Ayase was appointed for this major role due to the success of her starring taiga drama.

Despite being Ayase's first attempt at hosting, her genuine personality on variety shows has received high favorability. There is no concerns regarding this combination as Ayase has collaborated with Arashi on variety shows on multiple occasions.

I love Arashi and all, but it's about time for a change of scenery for male hosts. Maybe next year.
csaca 8th-Aug-2013 03:21 am (UTC)
Don't wanna comment on the Arashi part, but gosh, can't wait to see Haruka as host xD Hopefully she will be as funny as ever!
ocha_suki 8th-Aug-2013 03:23 am (UTC)
Arashi....AGAIN?!?!
what bout the rumor has it would be nakai this year?!?!
there's gone my wish to see Arashi on jDC :/
trsprmt 8th-Aug-2013 06:30 am (UTC)
yeaah i also thought that Nakai will be the host!:0
so it was just a rumor after all....
well i prefer Arashi anyway
looking forward to their performance!^^
by jDC did you mean johnny's countdown? sorry if i'm mistaken :/
asweetsymphony 8th-Aug-2013 03:24 am (UTC)
I love Arashi and all but they need to quit hosting Kouhaku every single year. I miss the countdown and Kouhaku is so formal and boring.Congrats to Ayase btw.
trsprmt 8th-Aug-2013 06:33 am (UTC)
riterite i also miss the countdown :""
when i saw the 2009-2010 countdown there were lots and lots of Arashi and they were awesome
but the recent countdowns are just Arashi singing on top of a roof, they're still awesome but there's not much of them :(
but i love Arashi's Furusatoo!!<3

Can't wait for the special collab performances \o/ And even if it's not "new", I'm still excited for the boys again. And congrats to Haruka. Can't wait to see her outfits.

I like your comment. <3

And I agree with it completely.
shynanigans 8th-Aug-2013 03:27 am (UTC)
I can't help it, I am pretty excited to hear that Arashi is hosting again this year. While it would be great to see them really at JCD (and not through recording or something) this year, I'll look forward to that for another year.
fantasyfinal89 8th-Aug-2013 03:28 am (UTC)
Kinda want Arashi to do something else to be honest, but congrats :)
simplyshiny514 8th-Aug-2013 03:38 am (UTC)
I wish I weren't disappointed, but I am. I'm honestly sick of Arashi hosting things, and I would like to see them back at JCD....as for Ayase, love her as an actress, can't see her being a good host.
chizzyrei 8th-Aug-2013 03:42 am (UTC)
Arashi, as expected. And Ayase becoming host is predictable.
daikishlicious 8th-Aug-2013 04:01 am (UTC)
...and once again, Arashi for this year. I love Arashi but I hope that next year I see new male host standing in front of me.
hoshinayuki 8th-Aug-2013 04:11 am (UTC)
The miraculous thing was that I just watched the episode where Ayase Haruka is the guest on Himitsu no Arashi-chan yesterday xD
kangxy67 8th-Aug-2013 01:35 pm (UTC)
WATCH THE EPISODE OF ARASHI NO SHUKUDAI WITH AYASE AS THE GUEST. GOODNESS. My favourite episode ever. All I can think of her is this air-headed bimbo after watching that. Episode 130 or 131 or 132. One of those. xD

So it's official now? Not a rumor, but official? I guess I could hope the wild speculation would cool down a little after an official announcement, but it's really only gonna heat up on what other acts are gonna be there, isn't it? ^^;

And to people saying, "Again?" there are white team hosts who've hosted 9 years in a row before: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C5%8Dhaku_Uta_Gassen While being asked to host 4 years in a row is still impressive, inviting the same people over and over again is just what Kouhaku does. *shrugs*
exdream1999 8th-Aug-2013 05:03 am (UTC)
Your last part: 100% what I wanted to say.

Also, there's been years when BOTH the Red and White team had repeat hosts: AKA the Nakai and Yukie years.

Can't wait for the crazy speculations of who the acts are going to be.
kemi_chan 8th-Aug-2013 04:14 am (UTC)
Ok, now I'm going to go back and read all the comments (including mine) that were made on that article that said Nakai might be replacing Arashi this year!xD

My thoughts haven't changed. I think it's time to give someone else the job as the white team host. I love Arashi and I think they've been doing a good job, but... I know that it'll sound like a petty reason, but what really bothers me is the fact that the five of them have to host together!! I mean, it's fun to see Arashi interacting as a group, but the stage gets crowded and the female hosts sometimes seems sort of pushed out, which shouldn't happen!ù__ú I personally prefer that they attend Kouhaku than JE Countdown, so JE Countdown isn't at all an influencial factor in my wanting them to quit hosting...

Gladly, this year Ayase Haruka will be representing the red team! I'm quite happy with that choice. I've seen her in some variety shows and even though she acts a little dummy (I guess that's just for entertainment, most female celebrities seem to deliberately choose to be perceived like that ._.) I believe she can do a good job! From the young female actresses that have been hosting recently, I think Inoue Mao was the best!=)
kashiwashipashi 8th-Aug-2013 04:32 am (UTC)
+1000000000
I always felt the whole group hosting together made it feel crowded. And when they interact with solo artists on the stage it looks like Arashi is the guest instead lolol
kashiwashipashi 8th-Aug-2013 04:28 am (UTC)
Again? /facedesk/
I understand they kinda increase the viewership but the same male hosts every year is boring.
2hothere 8th-Aug-2013 04:34 am (UTC)

BORING...

they change the female host every year so why don't they change the male host too?
exdream1999 8th-Aug-2013 05:05 am (UTC)
Actually, there's been MANY years where they've repeated the female host. Nakama Yukie has hosted three times, all with Nakai Masahiro.

Recently, NTV has been having big name actresses for the morning drama, hence the first three co-hosts with Arashi, only this year have they gone back to have an unknown be the lead, and instead we got Haruka, who did a really successful Taiga drama.
