Arashi ni Shiyagare Renewal, Female Guests to Appear

Arashi's variety program Arashi ni Shiyagare broadcasted every Saturday 10pm on NTV has been renewed after the show began 3 and a half years ago. The first airing after the renewal on September 14 was broadcasted live and the guest is comedy duo Cream Stew, the same guest that appeared in the pilot episode on April 24 2010. So far the concept of the show was to guess who the guest were and to learn from veteran male guests the steps of formula in life to be taught.

After the renewal from now on the members would be informed of who the guests are beforehand, the guest would bring up a 「topic」 in advance which the members would brainstorm and research together which would be presented during the show. For the first renewal airing the members researched the agenda that Arita of Cream Stew brought up, which is 「Why is Ueda Shinya able to conquer the world?」 Arashi members then investigated numerous past historic episodes of Ueda from Cream Stew and dissolve the mystery of how he is able to take over the industry.

Also on this day viewers participated in the live voting via twitter during the airing, out of two projects suggested by Cream Stew. Between Ueda's 「Arashi members' location shooting in Kumamoto」 and Arita's 「Arashi members popularity general election」. Ueda's proposal was ultimately decided upon the winning of votes.

In the interview carried out immediately after the live broadcast, Ohno commented that 「It was refreshing to be able to know who the guests are beforehand and to create the show together」. Aiba remarked that 「It has been quite a while that we have live broadcast for our regular variety programs, it was over in a flash and i look forward to widen the width of the show with the appearance of female guests」. Matsumoto mentioned that 「I was happy that we are able to include the live performance (for regular broadcasting) and hopefully there would be future opportunities where we can sing and perform in the show」. In addition, when asked regarding female guests whom they want to come on the show, Ninomiya who is known to be a big fan of Takeuchi Yuko said enthusiastically 「When it was decided that she would take on the drama lead role on NTV, i thought "Hooray!". Probably she will come」.

Ueno Juri would appear in the next airing and in the future female guests are also planned to guest.

Ohno's one and only epic comment throughout the show "We are like comedians".

Ueno Juri! I wouldn't have minded if they only switched male for female guests instead of revamping the concept but it's something to look forward to. Also kinda cool how they invited Cream Stew again for this pseudo-pilot episode.

i think most of the fans would choose anything over the election, having them be ranked 1st to 5th in terms of popularity?

in reality actually more or less we know how the position of the ranking will turn out right ;)
edneichon 15th-Sep-2013 08:25 pm (UTC)
I voted for that option and i'm so glad it won. We already have enough of rankings in magazines and during derby in the past.. unless ntv could have rights of the horses i want the ranking back xD

i think you are mistaken, it's not the fans who would be affected by the results but the members themselves.

personally my first thought when i imagined if the election won the vote was, poor matsujun :x

regardless of the truth which you mentioned, those who chose Ueda's proposal didn't want to see them ranked (those who are not interested in rankings/those who knew how it will turn out and feel bad for the last ranked member/those who prefer to see them mess around on location shootings), and that's why it's not happening; since you were wondering on why Kumamoto location shooting won instead.

to be honest, the first thing that came into mind when reading popularity election was "how boring" for me as well. I would take nearly everything over it as flashylicious said it. After all, magazines do them often enough and I wouldn't really care for the results as I like them all 5 in one place the best anyway.

apart from that I don't think Kumamoto is such a bad suggestion at all. What don't you like about it ^^?

maybe it really is different expectations of what the choices would turn out like? because personally for me the election seemed "bland" while Kumamoto was "great, outside the box" ^^ not so much about risks or anything.
but whatever, only speculations and a matter of taste like you said

Because seeing them outside doing something active, possibly with Kumamon, then them sitting in a studio looking at results is more exciting??

Also, Arita himself said that it didn't have to be a popularity contest like AKB's and that they could put parameters on it, so it wouldn't have been an "edgy" election anyways. Since it had to fill an hour, it just would have been like the Ranking Derby from Arashi-chan.

I really can't think of other times the fandom's had to vote outside of M5 SP's or AraFes, and I really, really never paid attention to those results. I often try to avoid going into fandom because I don't have the time or the patience for it. (I'm surprised about the lack of bitching about the "live" performance not really being live. Way to be reasonable.)

I just really think that this time around, people(including the general public who aren't hardcore fans) just chose what they thought would be more fun to see on TV. Like, the Mannequin SPs at least had the whole segment of them choosing their outfits, but what would they do for one hour?

taking into consideration your "safe assumption" and stuff like that.

Japanese fans don't really think about that. And in the end it WILL boil down to "I like A you like B":
There is a real lack of the five to them going out on location. I can't really recall the last time the 5 of them went out to film. So the fans went and took that opportunity. They can always have some sort of ranking anytime anywhere. But not a location shoot. So preference: 5 of them out there >>>> "boring" ranking in the studio
