A surprising additional cast member for the much talked about live action film adaptation of the popular Shounen manga "Lupin III" has been revealed.
Shun Oguri was initially given the title role and will play as 'Arsene Lupin III', the grandson of the gentleman thief, 'Arsene Lupin'. He eventually became a sleek thief himself. In addition, Taiwanese actor/singer Jerry Yan will be joining the star-studded cast, playing the character of Lupin III's top rival.
The 36-year-old actor, who played the Taiwanese 'Tsukasa Domyouji', 'Dao Ming Si' in Meteor Garden and Oguri who played the role of 'Rui Hanazawa' in Hana Yori Dango are familiar actors in both drama series and fans will surely be delighted to hear this news since it is the first time that the two actors will be working together.
Although the actress who will portray as Lupin III's love interest 'Fujiko Mine' has not been revealed, Arashi's Sho Sakurai and actor Satoshi Tsumabuki has been confirmed to be part of the movie earlier. Filming has started in Bangkok and will continue in other locations. It is scheduled for a Spring 2014 release.
** Jerry has been confirmed to be filming Lupin around last week of October in Thailand but they were tight on his character & info. IDK if it's anti-climactic or what, but if you base on Thailand media, the female lead role will be played by a Thai. Her name is Yaya-ying. She may/ may not be female lead though, as she's going to speak English for the film.
** Japan news has yet to confirm casting announcements, so it seems
