Avril Lavigne "Hello Kitty" PV inspired by Japan, offensive or not?

Basically after being posted on YouTube this video was bashed for mocking Japanese culture aka being racist. Avril Lavigne laughed on twitter about accusations and said video was shot in Tokyo "…specifically for my Japanese fans, WITH my Japanese label, Japanese choreographers AND a Japanese director IN Japan."
