Kaibutsu-kun to Become a Movie??~

The first time Kaibutsu-kun was at the preview screening, it had received negative reviews. But as the show continues covering a lot of family problems, it gathered attention from many families who watched together. The first episode had a high rating of 17.5%, but by the 7th episode, it's average rating dropped to 13.9%. Before, 15% would be considered the passing rating, however this time, it seems 13% is comforted enough that the film has already been decided by this result. With Arashi's current popularity, many fans may watch it at the theatres as well. Matsumoto Jun will be making a cameo appearance in the drama's last episode, as Kaibutsu-kun's butler, so there is a possibility chance that other group members may appear in the movie as well. The film's storyline will be original and it is planned to be released next summer with a large international location shooting. Also, during the movie's release, Kaibutsu-kun merchandise are planned to go on sale. The film version of the popular drama series, Hana Yori Dango Final, starring Matsumoto in 2008, was a box office hit record of 77.5 billion yen. Will Kaibutsu-kun be able to approach this popularity?

"Hana Yori Dango Final, starring Matsumoto in 2008, was a box office hit record of 77.5 billion yen"

it's 7.5 billion yen and about $75,000,000.00 USD for HYD gross. Rookies grossed 8.5 billion yen in comparison to that.

thank you. that seems more reasonable. I was looking at the figure and was like WOW!!!!!

I mean I know HYDF was popular but to be THAT popular is a bit shocking!

Don't make a movie of Kaibutsu-Kun. It's not necessary at all and probably won't get THAT much popularity like Matsumoto's movie supposedly did.

I love Kaibutsu-Kun, I really do, but a movie is too much. >:

WANT, Idgaf. I love how fun it is and the actors are hilarious. It might not be "necessary" (really, I would like to know what part of things made for entertainment are "necessary" to begin with??) but it will be fun and that's all I need in regards to entertainment.

I think Kaibutsu-kun would've worked better as a movie in the first place, but is a movie really necessary now that there's already a series?
I love Kaibutsu-kun but I don't think it would be as successful as HyDF or even Yatterman.

YES! they doubt Oh-chan at first but now it turns out that he's the perfect actor to play Kaibutsukun, knowinh he's already 29 turning 30...the article makes me happy!

I was one of the people who dissed this drama when I watched the preview. But glad that I gave it chance.

But for a movie... How about JIN movie? That series got more than 20% rating and barely had an ending.

LOL I love Kaibutsu-kun so much! A movie sound definately interesting. We'll have to wait & see how it turns out though. If it's about an epic battle between the Monster & the Demon Worlds... COUNT ME IN!

Rookies drama got only 14.8 overall ratings & itsweak if compared to HYD drama hit ratings yet it beat HYD in box office and records so I have high expectation in kaibutsukun if they will do this a movie since this drama only have 9 episodes and its a high popular demands. Ohno did great job in this drama, he once proven it in Maou and he proved himself again, even 2ch people who were unbiased to Johnny actors praised him for his performance in this drama.

Oh, am I psyched for this! From Beck to Gantz and now Kaibutsu-kun, 2011 is shaping up to be an awesome year for movies.

I had been worried about (and confused by) the series before I started watching it, but the staff has executed it beautifully. The movie can't help but be amazing.
