DiVA covers H Jungle with t's hit song 'WOW WAR TONIGHT ~Tokiniwa Okoseyo Movement~'

It's been announced that AKB48's subunit DiVA covered H Jungle with t's (collaboration unit between comedy duo Downtown's Hamada Masatoshi and music producer Komuro Tetsuya) double million-selling single from 1995 "WOW WAR TONIGHT ~Tokiniwa Okoseyo Movement~".

DiVA is a dance&vocal unit formed back in 2011 with 4 of AKB48's 2nd generation members Akimoto Sayaka, Umeda Ayaka, Masuda Yuka, and Miyazawa Sae, but in the same year, they held an audition and new 6 members joined the group.
In January 2013, Masuda announced her withdrawal from the group, and they have become a 9-member unit.
Although Akimoto graduated from AKB48 in last August, she remained as a DiVA member.

This is DiVA's first new song in 2 years, since they last released "Lost the way" in March of 2012.

The members left comments like, "I'm really happy to be able to cover the song that everyone knows. I am sure our fans are quite surprised that our new song is a cover" (Miyazawa), "Thank you for waiting! I would like to show a side different from AKB48" (Umeda), "DiVA is the only place I can sing and dance, so I'm really grateful. Filming for music video makes me happy" (Akimoto).

The music video to the new song is available only on UULA (SoftBank mobile's smartphone app.), and it has not been decided at this moment if its CD will be released.

I was really surprise about this. I though they are already ignored by the management but I think because of this I can still root for the best vocal sub-unit of 48 family

Masuda Yuka to graduate AKB

21-year-old Masuda Yuka, second generation AKB48 member, has announced on her blog that she will be graduating AKB, following a scandal with DA PUMP's ISSA.

She wrote:

I'm sorry it's been quite a while since my last post.

Tomorrow, Shuukan Bunshun is releasing an article about me, saying I slept over at DA PUMP frontman ISSA's apartment. The article includes things that aren't true, but that I spent the night at his place is the truth.

I apologize for my indiscreet behavior and I'm honestly sorry that it resulted in misunderstandings among fans, fellow members, staff and family.

I've thought the situation over and asked myself what would be the best thing to do and as a way of taking responsibility for my actions, I've decided to retire from AKB48. Sorry for this sudden announcement.

I apologize to all the fans that have supported me all along for leaving the group in such fashion.
I wanted to express my feelings directly to fans and everyone else worried by the article, so I've announced it here on my blog.

Masuda Yuka

Yuttan, who is also a member of AKB subgroup DiVA, has recently taken a break from AKB activities to dedicate her time to the musical 'The Wiz', in which she has the main role.

Blog Post Translation

Looks like AKB just lost one of their best singers. ;-; She was an important member, but it's true that she wasn't getting anything out of AKB anymore. Wish she'd been able to graduate of her own will and not due to a scandal though.

ERIKA SAWAJIRI'S HOT COMEBACK FILM uses Ayumi Hamasaki's "evolution" as theme song

On April 26th, a new poster for the upcoming movie “Helter Skelter” was revealed along with the announcement that Hamasaki Ayumi’s 20th single “evolution” (released in 2001) will be used as its theme song.

“Helter Skelter” is directed by Ninagawa Mika and marks the comeback of actress Sawajiri Erika after a five year-long abstinence from the silver screen. It tells the story of a woman named ‘Ririko’ (Sawajiri), who received cosmetic surgery on her entire body, thus allowing her to become a shining top star in the entertainment industry. Eventually, however, her body starts to deteriorate due to the procedure’s after-effects. During this time, ‘Ririko’ causes many incidents one right after another, drawing people around her into the fray.

Ninagawa commented that Hamasaki and her song “evolution” perfectly match the movie’s theme and world view. “It’s a movie about a woman who flexibly keeps on her feet, although she’s getting consumed by the city called Tokyo,” she explained. “I don’t think there is any artist better suited for such a theme than Hamasaki Ayumi.”

She continued, “Whether people like the song or not, they all know it’s from Hamasaki Ayumi after listening to it for a second and they are able to hum the melody. That’s proof of its wonderful originality and energy which never seemto vanish.”

Hamasaki herself revealed, “With pleasure I accepted the offer, after all it was Ninagawa who wished for me to provide the theme song, and moreover, it’s a very important movie for Erika, my junior from the same agency.” She added, “I myself am very emotionally attached to this song and that’s why it makes me very happy that I’m able to give more people the chance to listen to it for the first time and let it leave an impression on them.”

Sawajiri, who has been a big fan of Hamasaki for a very long time, also was delighted to hear about the collaboration and commented, “I was so happy when I heard that ‘evolution’ was going to be the theme song for this movie. I think that with Ayu’s song the movie became even more colorful and charming than it already was.”
